Styled Shoot: Vintage-Themed Wedding On Boca Grande

The Concept
This styled shoot was based on a “luxury destination elopement” concept and was designed with a vintage, Old Florida aesthetic. Be Wed provided the wedding planning and design, while Hunter Ryan Photo captured the moment on the idyllic island of Boca Grande, Florida.
The Location
Boca Grande is an affluent, coastal community located on Florida’s Gulf Coast, south of Sarasota and northwest of Fort Myers. The epicenter of Boca Grande is the Gasparilla Inn, a historic inn that immediately whisks you back to a more elegant, decadent time. While staying at the Gasparilla Inn, it is easy to imagine yourself rubbing elbows with the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts and the Carnegies. Today, the Gasparilla Inn is a favorite for luxury destination weddings — and is arguably the best such location in all of Florida!

The Ceremony
For couples looking for a traditional wedding ceremony in a church or chapel, Boca Grande has everything you could want and more! Cute chapels abound, lining Boca Grande’s palm tree-shaded Gilchrist Ave, which is within a short walk or golf cart ride from The Gasparilla Inn. Pictured below is Boca Grande’s United Methodist Church, but there are many other GORGEOUS chapels, including: Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, St. Andrews Episcopal Church, and First Baptist Church of Boca Grande. For larger ceremonies, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is located within a short drive of Boca Grande.

Banyan Street
No wedding on Boca Grande would be complete without a trip to the aptly named Banyan Street to snap a few shots. This picturesque avenue looks like it is straight out of a Disney princess movie, and is utterly insta-worthy! For couples who dare to think out of the box, this street can even be shut down temporarily for bridal ceremonies!

THE DETAILS
Our bride wore the Cristina gown from Tara Keely by Lazaro. This vintage-inspired gown with a Venise lace bodice has been reinterpreted for ‘now’ with a plunging V illusion neckline and a revealing back with ribbon trim. The Tara Keely line can be purchased at The Perfect Dress in nearby Sarasota, Florida.
The groom is styled in the Kubrick Outfit from The Black Tux. Florals were provided by Sue Ellen’s Floral Boutique, and The Diamond Vault provided our bride and groom with the requisite wedding-day bling.

How To Get There
Boca Grande is located 57 miles south of Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport (SRQ) and 74 miles from Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW). For the jet set crowd, the Coral Creek private airport (FA54) is only six miles from Boca Grande.
